O Pico das Prateleiras é formado por imponentes blocos de rocha e seu cume está a 2.540m de altitude. Existem várias rotas de escalada nesse maciço, sendo que na rota turística, o visitante necessitará segurar em corda e usar equipamento de segurança, oferecido pelo Guia de Turismo que o conduz, para que o cume da montanha seja atingido.
